Since as I’m the self styled master of Gmail Stealth Mode, I thought I would post the simplest way of editing a contact in gmail.

Sometimes, we all know somehow a contact has gotten into your gmail chat, and you don’t want them to appear online in your chat list for whatever reason, i.e. you don’t want them to see when you are online or you just plain don’t like them! Rather than going down the “stealth” route, you can simply edit them from your gmail chat contacts:

First thing to do is go into settings, and deselect ‘Auto-add suggested contacts’. Therefore people you email will no longer beĀ  automatically added to your chat list.

You can edit (remove) people from appearing online in your chat list by going into contacts, select the one you want to delete, then beside ‘Show in chat list’, select the option you want (i.e. never), then return to your inbox and that contact should be removed from chat!
